Suddenly, alarms went off. Eggman's voice boomed over the loudspeakers. "Eliminate Silver the Hedgehog and his friends!" Metallic clanks echoed throughout the hallways as robots hurried to their position. A particularly large one burst through the wall, lumbering towards them.
Silver could have fought, but decided that priority number one was to make sure Blaze was safe. He grabbed her around the waist and hurdled through the hole it made. The others could handle the robots. If Blaze were to die, Silver would never forgive himself.
The site that met Silver and Blaze on the other side of the wall took their breath away. It was a large power generator, with large lightning bolts sparking off of it. Silver set Blaze down and slowly moved towards it. He knew that the power source was his Chaos energy. He didn't know how he knew it, but he did. He put his hand against it. His one chance to return to normal. Should he take it?
Silver nodded to himself and positioned himself near the two large electrodes at the top of the machine. Taking a last look at Blaze, he grasped them firmly with his hands.
Blaze saw what he was doing, and tried to stop him, to pull him away, but he pushed her away. Silver howled in pain at the amount of pure energy coursing through him. He didn't know how much more of this he could take.
The machine blew up. Debris flew everywhere, smoke covered the room. Blaze, in a panicked mood, ran to the center of the room, looking desperately for Silver. "Silver!" she called out. No answer. "Silver!" she called again. Again no answer. Blaze sat down and began to cry.
"Hey, don't cry," said a voice behind her, a voice she recognized. Praying that it was true, Blaze turned around to see
Silver, back to normal.
"Silver!" she yelled, jumping into his arms. She cried softly into his shoulder. "I thought
I thought I'd lost you."
Silver embraced her, hugging her tightly, not letting her go. "I will never leave you Blaze. I will always be with you, and will never let anything hurt you."
Silver and Blaze locked eyes, tears in both pairs. "Oh Silvy
" Blaze cooed.
" Silver returned, pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss, like the one they had had when Blaze first discovered he was in his werehog form.
When they were done, Blaze said, "Silver, you don't know how much I've missed you. The old you. Your voice. Your smile. Your eyes. I missed you so much."
Silver silenced her. "I know. I wanted to give you all those things. I wanted to talk to you, to be like I was before. But I couldn't in that body. But, don't worry. I'm back." He pulled her into another kiss. "You know," he said, "Once this is done, we've got a wedding to plan."
Blaze smiled at him. "I can't wait."
Sonic and the others came through the smoke. They had dispatched the robots with no problem, as usual, and had come to see what had happened. They saw the normal Silver holding Blaze. Sonic saw they were having a moment and quietly shooed everyone away.
Silver and Blaze were lost in each other's eyes. "Let's go home," said Silver. He picked Blaze up bridal style, with her arms around his neck. He went to join the others, who were overjoyed to have him back. Even Shadow cracked a smile. They got into the X-Tornado, with Blaze falling asleep in Silver's lap. He cuddled up to her and fell asleep as they jetted back home.
